Way back in the year 1772, the Cura of Aritao was father Corripio and was
succeeded by Father Antolin in 1786. He was a great builder, aside from building
the stone church and the municipal building (Casa Tribunal), he established
a model garden in fertile site (now part of Comon) where he raised cacao, mangoes
and other tropical fruits and this was called “Garden of Father Antolin”.
During the early days, Father Antolin invited other tribes to migrate in Aritao
in order to increase the population for in preparation of the Township of Aritao.
He established a settlement in Paruronan where people coming from the neighbouring
provinces like Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and as far as Ilocos
Region could settled. All tribes like Ilokanos, Tagalo, Pangasinances, Kapampangan,
and other tribes worked together, they have common supplies a substinence from
Father Antolin. They are well disciplined and cooperative. And very soon they
called the settlement “communal” from the Medieval Latin (communalis)
and from the old French “Commune” or Communal/Community. The most
visible achievement or the early inhabitants was a plantation of mango groves
called Camanggaan by the Ilocanos. Although it was devastated and bombarded
during the Japanese occupation still can be seen in the year 1950’s until
it was fully converted into farmlands at present.
As the years goes by, the early inhabitants grew into threefold times, and as
their families multiply the expanded their occupation to the south up to Sta.
Clara.here in Barangay Comon, the most notable place before are Paruranon,(now
